“Rush” over to see the newest image on sherstone.com
Rush was taken last week on the way to Tofino. We stopped at this amazing river at the worst time of day for photography, but I was determined to try and get a decent shot out of it. The image is a manual HDR image, I say manual because I prefer using a 3 or 4 exposure set of shots and manually masking each area to suit the shot. The sky area, is one shot, tree line and rocks second, white water a third and finally the very foreground water in the bottom right is the fourth layer and exposure. This technique is a favorite of mine and I have been using it for several years on several of my images. The secret is a good tripod and no wind.
A good tutorial that explains this technique is located here
