My lone tree.

Some photographers have a favorite lone tree. Where I live, there is almost no open spaces except the ocean and consequently it is very hard or almost impossible to find a decent lone tree with a great sky. I have searched for several years on Vancouver Island for a tree that is alone and hopefully flowers in the spring. Unfortunately the lone tree has eluded me, as a substitute I have been taking photographs of a similar subject, a small island that just happens to be a seven minute drive from where I live. What is nice about this island is that some of the trees that grow on it are arbutus trees. Arbutus trees are a broad leaf evergreen so it doesn’t seem to matter what time of year I take a picture of the island there is always some green.

Today I stopped off at the island in the morning and it was in prime form surrounded by haze and cradled by small hints of fall. I think this is probably one of my most photographed scenes and I will likely continue to add to my collection, always looking for that even better shot. ~Click on the photo above to see it larger
